# Copy a task to another user

Creates a copy of a task for the same claim and reassigns it to a new user.

## Steps

1. Create a new task for the same `ClaimID` via the type's `NewTask` factory.

   > **Origin**: This step invokes [Create a claim task](op-1-create-claim-task.md) (or the equivalent Coverage B creation flow).
2. Call the inherited `CopyTask(target)` to copy common task state.

   > **Origin**: `CopyTask` is implemented in [SAIF.Business.Tasks](../../saif-business-tasks/overview.md).
3. Assign the new `MailID` and return the copy as `iTask`.

   > **Origin**: Step 3 invokes [Assign or change the task owner](op-9-assign-or-change-task-owner.md) and its rules.

## Failure and edge-case behavior
- Assignee validation failures on the copy behave identically to a normal assignment ([BR-CT-03](../business-rules.md#br-ct-03a-assignee-validation-exemptions)).
